In U.S. History over the next couple of weeks, we will examine the era of the Jeffersonian-Republicans. More specifically, we will analyze Jefferson's legacy as the third President of the United States and whether or not he remained true to his "strict constructionist view" of the Constitution.
As we begin to examine events leading to the Civil War, we will be using an additional resource in conjunction with the textbook. Please create an EdX account and enroll yourself in "ColumbiaX: HIST.1.1x Civil War and Reconstruction - 1850-1861." This course is taught by Dr. Eric Foner, a Professor of History at Columbia University. Participating in this course will give you further insight into the causes and ramifications of the Civil War and exposure to a world class college professor. Please keep up with the lecture deadlines - and enjoy this amazing (free) resource!
