Welcome to the final week of the first quarter! Over the next couple of days, you will be responsible for creating a “Soundtrack to Adolescence.”
Your soundtrack should represent the following themes of adolescent:
A. The effects of, or problems with, physical maturity
B. The effects of, or ways of dealing with, the undefined status of adolescents in modern society
C. The problems associated with, or benefits of, increased decision-making during adolescence
D. The increased pressures of adolescence
E. The problems involved in establishing meaningful relationships
F. The search for self-identity during adolescence
G. The forms of anticipatory socialization common in adolescence
H. The learning of correct ways to behave in social and other situations
I. The importance of establishing friendships with members of the opposite sex
J. The need to be flexible in relationships
K. The expectations and commitments involved in relationships
L. A theme of your choice! What is another significant theme of adolescent not listed above?
For each track you choose, please include:
1. The title and author of the song
2. An excerpt of lyrics from the song that best exhibit the theme; do NOT simply copy and paste lyrics from a song in their entirety
3. A description of how the song and lyrics featured represents the chosen theme
In addition to choosing the tracks, you must choose a title and design a cover for your album.
You will have time to work on this project in class. Each day, you will receive a participation grade based on your efforts. The following daily breakdown is suggested to help you stay on track:
Monday: start brainstorming track titles to include to represent the given themes
Tuesday: begin choosing song excerpts and writing descriptions
Wednesday: finish choosing song excerpts and writing descriptions
Thursday: choose a title and design the album's cover; practice presentation for tomorrow (Friday)
Friday: present the title and three songs from your album, thoughtfully explaining each song's connection to the given theme
