Welcome to the second quarter! This week we will begin with a fascinating new unit on "Deviance and Social Control" (Chapter 8). In this unit, we will examine the nature and social functions of deviance, and we will compare the the theories that have been proposed to explain deviance. We will also identify the principal types of crime that occur and the characteristics of distinct criminal justice systems that are found throughout the world.
