In Psychology this week, we will begin a new unit on "Learning, Cognition, Motivation, and Emotion." Learning is commonly defined by psychologists as a long-lasting change in behavior resulting from experience. Although learning is not the same as behavior, most psychologists accept that learning can be best measured through changes in behavior. In addition to discovering processes by which we are conditioned to acquire new behaviors, we will examine how we process and recall information; the connections between physiology and motivation; and the theories about emotions and stress that are closely related to motivation theory.
